John 6:29 and the Other Verses of John 6:22–71

As Moses lifted up the serpent [the serpent made of bronze described in Numbers 21:8–9] in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life, for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten [uniquely born] Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

“…for by grace you are saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, lest any man should boast.”

Above is the content of John 3:14–16 and the content of Ephesians 2:8–9, respectively.  Itʼs worthwhile to refrain from receiving the mark referenced in Revelation 13:11–18 and to instead receive eternal life for free by believing that Jesus is the Savior.  Before doing any Bible studying and before praying to God the Father, it is useful for a person who has believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior to try to think of any sins that one might have committed since one last confessed oneʼs known post-salvation sins to God the Father, and if one has indeed committed any, to then silently confess those sins to God the Father—confessing only one time for each sin—in accordance with what is mentioned in 1 John 1:9:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

This webpage could be periodically updated.  If there is a mass disappearance of people professing to be Christians, and if the original author of this webpage is amongst those people disappearing en masse, then it is possible that this webpage will no longer be updated.  Also, if there is a mass disappearance of people professing to be Christians, it is worthwhile to consider the possibility that those people have exited from the earth on the occasion known as the Rapture instead of assuming that that mass disappearance involves extraterrestrials abducting those people or involves the annihilation of those people or involves anything else other than the Rapture.

When studying the Word of God, it is beneficial to keep in mind the content of Hebrews 4:12:

“Indeed, the Word of God is alive and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit and of the joints and the marrow and is a critic of thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Note:  The heart refers to the mind.

It is also beneficial to keep in mind the content of 2 Timothy 3:16–17 when studying the Word of God:

“All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God might be mature, having been thoroughly furnished unto all good work.”

It is the responsibility of a pastor-teacher to endeavor to correctly understand the Word of God and then to accurately teach the Word of God, as per the content of 2 Timothy 2:15:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of Truth.”

A pastor-teacher is a communicator rather than a crutch on which to be leaned.  In that regard, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ should refrain from putting oneʼs trust in and thereby serving as a devoted follower of and thus worshiping a pastor-teacher.  Likewise, a believer should refrain from putting oneʼs trust in and thereby serving as a devoted follower of and thus worshiping anyone other than the Trinity [God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit], as per Joshua 24:15, the content of which references Joshua speaking to the Israelites:

If it is disagreeable/bad/evil/wrong/wretchedness/displeasing in your sight to serve/worship Jehovah / Yahweh / I am I am / the existing One, choose for yourselves today whom you serve/worship:  whether the gods ['elohiym / false gods] which your fathers have served/worshiped which were beyond the river or the gods ['elohiym / false gods] of the Amorites in whose land you are living.  As for me and my house, we serve/worship Jehovah / Yahweh / I am I am / the existing One.

Note:  Joshua, the leader of the Israelites after Joshua had been serving as the assistant of Moses while Moses was the leader of the Israelites, set the example for the Israelites.  Joshua chose to put his trust in and thereby serve as a devoted follower of and thus worship God the Father rather than Joshua choosing to put his trust in and thereby serve as a devoted follower of and thus worship the lesser of multiple evils amongst multiple choices of 'elohiym [el-oh-HEEM].  The word 'elohiym with a lowercase e can refer to false gods, to angels, or to human rulers or judges.  The word 'Elohiym with a capital E refers to the Trinity.  The word 'elohiym can also be used to refer to might as in mightiness.  In that regard, the use of the word 'elohiym in reference to false gods, to angels, or to human rulers or judges involves the connotation of mightiness in comparison to an average human.  When a person puts oneʼs trust in and thereby serves as a devoted follower of and thus worships an angel or human, that angel or human is that personʼs false god.  Regarding the foregoing, the content of Joshua 24:15 involves Joshua calling attention to the choices that the Israelites had, and that content involves Joshua permitting the Israelites to make their choices while Joshua led by example with his choice.

The gift of pastor-teacher is for the purpose of each pastor-teacher functioning as a messenger who communicates the Word of God rather than functioning as a priest between the Trinity and mankind.  In that regard, the time period that can be referred to as the Church Age started fifty days after the Lord Jesus Christ was resurrected, and all Church Age believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are priests.  The Lord Jesus Christ is the High Priest of Church Age believers, and believers should be willing to acknowledge/confess/profess to people the believersʼ faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, as per Hebrews 4:14–15:

Therefore, since we have a great High Priest Who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the acknowledgment/confession/profession.  Indeed, we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One Who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

Also, the Lord Jesus Christ is the High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek [mel-KIZ-uh-dek], who was the ruler of Salem when Abraham was still named Abram.  Melchizedek was both a king and a priest, as per Genesis 14:18, which references Melchizedek greeting Abram:

Then Melchizedek king of Salem has brought out bread and wine, and he is a priest of 'El [AYL] 'Elyown [el-YOHN] / God [focusing on God the Fatherʼs power] Most High.

The Lord Jesus Christ is also both a king and a priest because the Lord is the Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, as per Hebrews 7:14–17:

Indeed, it is evident that our Lord has arisen from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.  Also, it is still much more evident:  that according to the similarity of Melchizedek, Another of a different type of priest arises, Who has become such not on the basis of a law of fleshly command / physical requirement but according to the power of an indestructible life.  Indeed, it is attested:  “YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER, ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.”

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ is from the tribe of Judah.  Also, the Lord Jesus Christ is qualified to be a priest because He was resurrected and therefore has an indestructible body.  The above content in all capital letters is a reference to Psalm 110:4.

Because a king is royalty, a king who is a priest is a royal priest.  In that regard, Church Age believers are royalty because they are members of the Lord Jesus Christʼs family.  Therefore, all Church Age believers are royal priests, as per 1 Peter 2:9–10:

However, you are A CHOSEN PEOPLE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR ACQUISITION/PRESERVATION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him Who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are GODʼS PEOPLE.  You had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.

Note:  Before the Church Age, Gentiles were not Godʼs people.  In the Church Age, both Jewish and Gentile believers are Godʼs people.  The content of 1 Peter 2:10 references Hosea 2:23.  In that regard, Peter uses references involving Israel in the Old Testament to refer to Church Age believers.

Itʼs the message rather than the messenger that should be the focus of the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Put succinctly:  itʼs the message rather than the messenger.  In that regard, it is beneficial to keep in mind the content of Revelation 22:8–9, which was written by the apostle John, who, in addition to writing The Revelation to John, wrote The Gospel According to John, The First Epistle of John, The Second Epistle of John, and The Third Epistle of John:

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things, and when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things, but he says* to me, “Do not do that.  I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who keep the words of this book.  Worship God.”

*Note:  The word says is in the Greek historical present tense.  By means of the Greek historical present tense, past action or future action can be described from the perspective of someone seeing the action as it occurs.

Regarding messages, believers should use the Word of God to examine what is being communicated.  That is what the Bereans who are mentioned in Acts 17:10–12 did:

The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, who, when they arrived, went into the synagogue of the Jews.  Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all eagerness / readiness of mind, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.  Therefore, many of them believed, and not a few prominent Greek women and men.

Note:  The phrase not a few means “quite a few.”

Today, the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to meet believers in the Lord Jesus Christ in the clouds on the occasion of the Rapture is one day closer than it was yesterday.  The Rapture involves both deceased and living believers in the Lord Jesus Christ meeting the Lord in the clouds in the atmosphere of the earth, receiving glorified immortal resurrection bodies similar to the Lord Jesus Christʼs glorified resurrection body, and going to Heaven with those resurrection bodies.  Before the Rapture occurs, deceased believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are in Heaven without glorified bodies.  It is possible that the Rapture will occur during the time when the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah [yahm tuh-ROO-uh or yohm tuh-ROO-uh] would occur.  The Feast of Trumpets was one of the seven feasts that the Israelites were supposed to celebrate each year under the regulations of the Mosaic Law.  The term Mosaic Law refers to the laws communicated by Moses to the ancient Israelites.  Because Moses communicated those laws, they are known collectively as the Mosaic Law.  The Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the Mosaic Law by being judged on the cross for the sins of humanity.  Now that the Lord Jesus Christ has fulfilled the Mosaic Law, no believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are under the regulations of the Mosaic Law.

While it is possible that the Rapture will occur during the time when the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah [yahm tuh-ROO-uh or yohm tuh-ROO-uh] would occur—which is referenced as a single day in Leviticus 23:24–25 and Numbers 29:1–6 and which is what some people call Rosh Hashanah and which some people celebrate for two days—the next occurrence of which will possibly be during the time period of September 10th, 2026, at 11:51 A.M. – September 14th, 2026, at 1:08 P.M. in the Eastern Daylight Time zone or the time period of October 10th, 2026, at 11:13 A.M. – October 14th, 2026, at 12:29 P.M. in the Eastern Daylight Time zone, it is worthwhile for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to get into the habit of being prepared every day for the return of the Lord, just in case the Rapture will occur during a time other than the time of the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah.  Furthermore, it is worthwhile to be in the habit of being prepared for the Rapture so that if it does occur during the time of the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah, one can be prepared for that time because of already being in the habit of being prepared.  Examples of being prepared for the Rapture include applying the content of 1 John 1:9 whenever one sins, being unselfish, and whenever circumstances are such that an opportunity arises, sharing the gospel—the good news that believing that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Savior Who was judged on the cross for the sins of humanity is the means by which a person is able to have eternal life.  Regarding sharing the gospel, one could also have a written or printed message containing the gospel with that written or printed message located somewhere where it could be easily noticed so that if a person or people were to read or hear that written or printed message either before or after the Rapture occurs, that person or people would thereby read or hear the gospel by means of that written or printed message.

Whether the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah in 2026 would occur during September or October depends on whether barley crop in Israel in 2026 was first in a status known as abib [ah-BEEB] (also known as aviv [ah-VEEV]) in March or April, respectively.  Also, if barley crop in Israel in 2026 was first in a status known as abib/aviv in February, then the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah would have occurred during the time period of August 12th, 2026, at 12:25 P.M. – August 16th, 2026, at 1:49 P.M. in the Eastern Daylight Time zone.  On which day and at what time in August, September, or October the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah would start depends on the time of the last sunset over Jerusalem before the first sliver of a crescent new moon after that sunset.  The crescent new moon is the illumination of a sliver of the waxing moon.  The moon is waxing when it is becoming more and more illuminated after what some people refer to as the astronomical new moon, the time when there is an absence of illumination of the moon—in other words, when there is an absence of reflection of light from the moon.  On which day and at what time in August, September, or October the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah would end depends on whether the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah lasts one day or two days and whether the time of day of the end of the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah is at sunset, at the end of civil twilight, at the end of nautical twilight, or at the end of astronomical twilight.

Regarding information about the Rapture, it is beneficial to keep in mind the content of 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51–52:

1 Thessalonians 4:13–18

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again—and we do indeed believe that Jesus died and rose again—so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.  Indeed, this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive who remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep, for the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout of command, with a voice of an archangel and with a trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive who remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.  Therefore, comfort one another with these words.

1 Corinthians 15:51–52

Behold, I tell you a mystery:  we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for a trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

After the Rapture will be the seven-year Tribulation.  The believers who will be alive on the earth when the Rapture occurs will escape the Tribulation.  1 Thessalonians 5:1–11 covers that topic.  In that regard, in the book 1 Thessalonians, the content of 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 is immediately followed by the content of 1 Thessalonians 5:1–11.

1 Thessalonians 5:1–11

Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you, for you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord is coming just like a thief in the night.  While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.  However, you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief, for you are all sons of light and sons of day.  We are not of night nor of darkness; therefore, let us not sleep as others, but let us be alert and sober.  Indeed, those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.  However, since we are of day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and benevolence/goodwill, and as a helmet, the hope / absolute confidence of deliverance, for God has not destined us for wrath but for obtaining deliverance through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.  Therefore, comfort one another and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Note:  In this context, the day of the Lord is the time period that consists of the Rapture, the seven years of the Tribulation, and the Second Advent.  In that regard, deliverance from the Tribulation is the deliverance in this context.  Also, unspecified is who will be saying “Peace and safety!”  In this context, sleeping refers to a lack of alertness.  The alertness in this context involves being ready for the Rapture.  In order to be ready for the Rapture, a believer needs to be filled with the power of God the Holy Spirit and to pay attention for historical trends such as people saying “Peace and safety!” and for historical trends that match the pattern of the world being on the brink of tremendous calamities like those that will occur during the Tribulation.  Regarding being filled with the power of God the Holy Spirit, once a believer commits a sin after salvation, that believer is no longer filled with the power of God the Holy Spirit and is out of fellowship with the Trinity.  After that believer has confessed/acknowledged to God the Father all of that believerʼs known unconfessed post-salvation sins, fellowship with the Trinity and the filling with the power of the Holy Spirit are restored.  The procedure for confessing/acknowledging to God the Father all of oneʼs known unconfessed post-salvation sins is mentioned in 1 John 1:9:  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  Fellowship with God the Father and God the Son is mentioned in 1 John 1.  Being out of fellowship with God the Holy Spirit is referenced in Ephesians 4:30.  In that regard, when a believer sins, that believer grieves the Holy Spirit.  Losing the filling of the power of God the Holy Spirit is referenced in 1 Thessalonians 5:19.  In that regard, when a believer sins, the power of God the Holy Spirit is quenched in that believer.  After a believer has confessed/acknowledged to God the Father all of that believerʼs known unconfessed post-salvation sins, that believer is then filled with the power of God the Holy Spirit again and in fellowship with the Trinity again.

The verse of the day for August 28th is John 6:29.  The title of the book John is also known as “The Gospel According to John.”  The book John was written by the apostle John.  He also wrote The First Epistle of John, The Second Epistle of John, The Third Epistle of John, and The Revelation to John.

For geographical context, below is a link to a map that shows the locations of the Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, and Capernaum.  On that map, those three locations are in grid coordinates C3, C4, D3, and D4.

Because it is useful to study verses that share the same context, below is content related to John 6:22–71.  The words of the Lord Jesus Christ are in red.

Note:  The Sea of Galilee is the sea that is referenced in John 6:22.

John 6:22

The next day, the crowd that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other small boat there, except one, and that Jesus had not entered with His disciples into the boat, but His disciples had gone away alone.

John 6:23

There came other small boats from Tiberias near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

John 6:24

Therefore, when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there—nor His disciples—they themselves got into the small boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

John 6:25

When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You get here?”

Note:  Rather than addressing the Lord Jesus Christ with the title Lord, the people referenced in this verse addressed the Lord Jesus Christ with the title Rabbi.  At the time described in John 6, people used the title Rabbi to address teachers.  The use of the title Rabbi rather than the title Lord is an indicator that the people referenced in this verse thought that the Lord Jesus Christ was merely a teacher rather than the Savior.

John 6:26

Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ recognized that some people were trying to find Him because those people had eaten the food that the Lord Jesus Christ had miraculously caused to be available.  In that regard, those people were focused on eating instead of being focused on the fact that the miracles that the Lord Jesus Christ did were indicators that He is the Savior.  Also, the Lord Jesus Christ recognized that those people wanted to use Him for the miracles that He could do.  In that regard, the Lord Jesus Christ refrained from allowing those people to use Him.

John 6:27

“Do not work for the food which perishes but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.”

Note:  The Lord used the word translated as “seal” metaphorically to refer to the Lordʼs miracles.  At the time that The Gospel According to John was written, seals involved wax or clay into which was pressed an object that was engraved so that the pressing of that object into the wax or clay would leave a mark in that wax or clay.  A variety of objects were used for making the impressions in the wax or clay.  Such an object could be hung on a cord that was worn either around a personʼs neck or on a personʼs wrist.  Also, such an object could be worn as a ring on a personʼs finger.  Such a ring is known as a signet ring.

A seal can be used to authenticate someone or something—in other words, to indicate that someone or something is genuine rather than phoney.  A seal can also be used to confirm approval of someone or something—in other words, to indicate approval of someone or something.  Regarding those usages of the word seal, God the Fatherʼs plan involved the Lord Jesus Christ having the ability to perform miracles for the purpose of indubitably indicating that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Savior and that God the Father approved of the Lord Jesus Christ being qualified to be the Savior—in other words, to indicate that the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Savior and that the fact that God the Father approved of the Lord Jesus Christ being qualified to be the Savior are indubitable / unquestionable / undoubtable / indisputable / unarguable / undebatable / incontestable / undeniable / irrefutable / incontrovertible / certain / beyond question / beyond dispute / beyond doubt / beyond a shadow of a doubt.  In other words, the Lordʼs miracles indicated that He is definitely the Savior.  In that regard, the miracles can be likened to a calling card that indicates Who He is.

The people who were focused on food that perishes were focused on the details of life instead of being focused on eternity.  In that regard, the Lord Jesus Christ moves the topic of conversation in the direction of the subject of the gospel, which—because the time when the Lord spoke what is in John 6:27 was after the Lord Jesus Christʼs public ministry was revealed and before the Lord Jesus Christ was judged on the cross for the sins of humanity—is the good news that the means of receiving eternal life is by means of believing that the Lord Jesus Christ is that sinless Human Who would be judged for the sins of humanity.  Now that the Lord Jesus Christ has been judged on the cross for the sins of humanity, the gospel is the good news that the means of receiving eternal life is by means of believing that Jesus Christ is that sinless Human Who was judged for the sins of humanity.

John 6:28

Therefore, they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”

Note:  The people were thinking in terms of trying to obtain eternal life for themselves by means of their works.

John 6:29

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him Whom He has sent.”

Note:  The word work is singular.  Also, God the Father did the work of sending the Lord Jesus Christ to be judged for the sins of humanity.  In addition, the content of this verse calls attention to the fact that, in order for a person to obtain eternal life, rather than that person doing any works whatsoever in order to obtain eternal life, that person simply needs to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Savior.

John 6:30

Therefore, they said to Him, “What then do You do for a sign, so that we may see and believe You?  What work do You perform?

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ had already done the miracle of providing food for those people, yet they wanted another sign.

John 6:31

“Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written:  ‘HE GAVE THEM BREAD OUT OF HEAVEN TO EAT.’”

Note:  The people referenced in John 6:31 misapplied the content of Psalm 78:24.  The content of Psalm 78:24 references God the Father providing manna for the Israelites.  The people referenced in John 6:31 claimed that the content of Psalm 78:24 references Moses as providing the manna.  Also, the content of Psalm 78:24 references the content of Exodus 16.  The content of Exodus 16 covers the topic of the manna.  By focusing on Moses, the people referenced in John 6:31 were focusing on an imperfect human instead of focusing on the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the One perfect Human.  For those people, Moses was a substitute savior, and the thoughts of those people were occupied with the sinner Moses instead of occupied with the Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.

Regarding the word heaven, below is a summary of the different usages for that word.

• The first heaven (also known as [aka] first heavens):  the atmosphere of earth

• The second heaven (aka second heavens):  outer space

• The Third Heaven (aka Third Heavens or simply as Heaven):  the location of the throne room of God the Father

The context of this verse and the surrounding verses is such that the usage of the word HEAVEN in this verse refers to the location of the throne room of God the Father.  The same applies to all of the usages of the word Heaven in other verses of John 6.

John 6:32

Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of Heaven, but it is My Father Who keeps on giving you the True Bread out of Heaven.

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ uses an analogy involving bread to indicate that He is the Savior.  In that regard, the Lord shifts the focus of the conversation from the topic of the sinner Moses to the topic of the Lord Jesus Christ being the Savior.

John 6:33

“Indeed, the Bread from the source of God is He Who comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world.”

Note:  In this verse, the Lord Jesus Christ refers to Himself with the word Bread.

John 6:34

Then they said to Him, “Sir, always/evermore give us this bread.”

Note:  The people in the crowd now address the Lord Jesus Christ with a title that indicates that those people recognize that the Lord Jesus Christ is more than merely a teacher.  In that regard, the Koine [KOI-nay] Greek noun that can be translated as “Sir” is Κύριε [pronounced KOO-ree-eh and transliterated as Kyrie].  That noun is an inflected form of the root word κύριος [pronounced KOO-ree-ahs and transliterated as kyrios].  The Koine Greek word kyrios can also be translated as “lord” or “master.”  In verses referencing people who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior speaking to the Lord, the word Kyrios is translated as “Lord.”  In that regard, while a believer can use the word Kyrios to address the Lord in a respectful manner, unbelievers would also use that word, using it as a polite way of addressing someone.

John 6:35

Jesus said to them, “I am the Bread of Life.  He who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

Note:  Jesus focuses the conversation on the matter of eternal life.  In that regard, He calls attention to Himself being the Savior.  Also, absent from this verse and the surrounding verses is anything indicating that coming to the Lord Jesus Christ involves works being done by the people who come to Him.  Instead, the content of this verse involves coming to the Lord Jesus Christ being associated with believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.

John 6:36

“However, I said to you that you have seen Me, yet you do not believe.

Note:  At the moment that the Lord Jesus Christ communicated what is in the content of this verse, the people in the crowd had not yet believed in Him as the Savior even though they had seen Him.  Also, absent from this verse and the surrounding verses is anything referencing the works of the people in the crowd.  In contrast, the content of this verse references believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior, and this verse is sandwiched between two verses that reference coming to the Lord Jesus Christ.  In that regard, the context for the references to coming to the Lord Jesus Christ in verse 35 and verse 37 involves believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior rather than involving works being done by the people who come to Him.

John 6:37

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.

Note:  In this verse, coming to the Lord Jesus Christ refers to believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.  Believers are given by God the Father to the Lord Jesus Christ.  The way that believers are given is by them coming to the Lord Jesus Christ.  In that regard, absent from this verse and the surrounding verses is anything indicating that the giving involves God the Father compelling them—in other words, forcing them— to come to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Instead, the context of the surrounding verses involves people choosing whether or not to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.  In that regard, the reference to giving in this verse indicates that every person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior is a gift from God the Father to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Whether or not a person is one of those gifts from God the Father to the Lord Jesus Christ depends on whether or not that person chooses to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.

Also, this verse references the eternal security of each believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  In other words, this verse indicates that once a person has believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior, that person will never lose his or her eternal life.  In that regard, in this verse is a Koine Greek word indicating negation followed by another Koine Greek word indicating negation.  In English, when there is a word indicating negation followed by another word indicating negation, the negation is canceled out—in other words, an absence of negation is indicated.  That grammatical structure is called a double negative.  In contrast with the English usage of two words indicating negation resulting in an indication of an absence of negation, the Koine Greek usage of two words indicating negation results in an intensification of the negation.  The two Koine Greek words used to indicate negation are οὐ [pronounced OO and transliterated as ou] and μὴ [pronounced MAY and transliterated as ].  Below is how they appear in sequence in this verse.

John 6:38

“Concerning that, I have come down from Heaven, not to do My own will but the will of Him Who sent Me.

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ did what was in accordance with God the Fatherʼs plan.  In that regard, each Member of the Trinity performs a different role.  Regarding the roles of the Members of the Trinity, God the Father does the planning, God the Son executes the plan, and God the Holy Spirit reveals the plan.  The Lord Jesus Christ is God the Son.

John 6:39

“This is the will of Him Who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing but raise it up on the last day.

Note:  When a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior, God the Father gives that person to the Lord Jesus Christ.  In that regard, the phrase of all that He has given Me I lose nothing is a reference to the eternal security of each believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Also, in the content of this verse and the surrounding verses, the phrase last day refers to the last day of a dispensation.

With regard to dispensations, below is a synopsis of human history as categorized into time periods known as dispensations.  In the below synopsis, there is the term hypostatic union [high-PUH-stat-ick YOON-yuhn].  This refers to the Lord Jesus Christ being 100% Deity and 100% humanity.  The English word hypostatic is derived from the Koine [KOI-nay] Greek word ὑπόστασις [pronounced hoo-PAH-stah-sees and transliterated as hypostasis].  After the Lord Jesus Christ was judged for the sins of humanity, His body was in the grave for three days and three nights.  He was then resurrected, and He was on the earth for forty days after He was resurrected.  He then ascended to Heaven, and ten days after that, the Day of Pentecost [PEN-tih-kahst] occurred.  The Day of Pentecost was the beginning of the Church Age.  The word Pentecost is derived from the Koine Greek word πεντηκοστή [pronounced pen-tay-kah-STAY and transliterated as pentēkostē].  That word is derived from the Koine Greek word πεντήκοντα [pronounced pen-TAY-kahn-tah and transliterated as pentēkonta], which means “fifty.”  Therefore, the word Pentecost is derived from the fact that that day occurred fifty days after the Lord was resurrected.  In that regard, the Church Age began fifty days after the Lord was resurrected.  The Church Age will end with the Rapture. Absent from the Bible is anything specifically indicating the precise date and time when the Rapture will occur, although it is possible that the Rapture will occur during the time when the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah [yahm tuh-ROO-uh or yohm tuh-ROO-uh] would occur—which is referenced as a single day in Leviticus 23:24–25 and Numbers 29:1–6 and which is what some people call Rosh Hashanah and which some people celebrate for two days—the next occurrence of which will possibly be during the time period of September 10th, 2026, at 11:51 A.M. – September 14th, 2026, at 1:08 P.M. in the Eastern Daylight Time zone or the time period of October 10th, 2026, at 11:13 A.M. – October 14th, 2026, at 12:29 P.M. in the Eastern Daylight Time zone.

Dispensation

Start

Ending or Interruption

Age of the Gentiles

Adam

The Age of the Gentiles ended with the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt.

Age of Israel

Exodus

The Age of Israel was interrupted on the Day of Pentecost.

Age of the Hypostatic Union (part of the Age of Israel)

First Advent of Christ

The Age of the Hypostatic Union ended with the Ascension of Christ.

Church Age

Day of Pentecost

The Church Age will end with the Rapture of the Church.

Tribulation (Age of Israel resumed)

Rapture

The Tribulation will end with the Second Advent of Christ.

Millennium

Second Advent

The 1,000-year Millennium will end with the Great White Throne Judgment of unbelievers.

Eternal State

Great White Throne Judgment

The Eternal State will be never-ending.

Regarding the word judgment, the proper way to spell that word is without an e between the dg and the m.  In that regard, the e of the root word judge is dropped when the suffix ment is added to that root word.  The formation of the word judgment is shown below.

judge −e +ment

= judg +ment

= judgment

Another way to categorize human history is by means of civilizations.  Civilizations begin only with believers.  Regarding the timing of civilizations and dispensations, the first civilization began with Adam and ended on the occasion of the Great Flood (also known as the Flood).  That civilization is known as the antediluvian civilization and the predulivian civilization.  In that regard, the prefixes ante and pre mean “before.”  Also, there are various spellings of the adjectives that refer to the time before the Flood.  Those spellings include antediluvian, ante-diluvian, prediluvian, and pre-diluvian.

After the Flood, there were only eight believers on the earth:  Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their sonsʼ wives.  With the removal of the unbelievers from the earth on the occasion of the Flood, a new civilization was started.  That civilization is known as the postdiluvian civilization (also known as the postdiluvial civilization).  Regarding the terminology, the prefix post means “after,” and the adjectives diluvian and diluvial mean “having to do with a flood.”  Also, there are various spellings of the adjectives that refer to the time after the Flood.  Those spellings include postdiluvian, post-diluvian, postdiluvial, and post-diluvial.  The postdiluvian civilization will end on the occasion of the Second Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ.  On the occasion of the Second Advent, the Lord will remove all unbelievers from the earth.  Their removal will be by means of physical death just as the removal of all unbelievers was by means of physical death on the occasion of the Flood.  This is called the Baptism of Fire, which is either a metaphorical description because fire can be used to represent judgment or a literal reference to the use of fire in the judgment of unbelievers on the occasion of the Second Advent.  The Baptism of Fire is referenced in Matthew 3:11–12; Luke 3:15–17; and 2 Thessalonians 1:7–9.

Just as a new civilization started after the Flood, so also a new civilization will start after the Baptism of Fire.  That civilization is called the Millennium.  The Millennium is both a civilization and a dispensation.  The Eternal State is also both a civilization and a dispensation.

Regarding the phrase last day in John 6:39 and dispensations, there will be resurrections of believers at the end of the Church Age, at the end of the Age of Israel, and at the end of the Millennium.  At the end of the Church Age—which will be the occasion of the Rapture—all of the believers who will be alive at that moment and all of the believers who experienced physical death during the Church Age will be resurrected.  At the end of the Age of Israel—which will be the occasion of the Second Advent—all of the believers who will be alive at that moment and all of the believers who will have experienced physical death during the Age of the Gentiles and the Age of Israel will be resurrected.  At the end of the Millennium, all of the believers who will be alive at that moment and all of the believers who will have experienced physical death during the Millennium will be resurrected.

The content of John 6:39 is repeated below for reference.

John 6:39

“This is the will of Him Who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing but raise it up on the last day.

John 6:40

“Indeed, this is the will of My Father, that everyone who considers the Son and believes in Him will keep on having eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”

Note:  It is the will of God the Father that every single person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior will have eternal life.  In that regard, it is worth noting that absent from this verse is any reference to a person who has eternal life doing any works in order to be worthy of having eternal life.

John 6:41

Therefore, the Jews were grumbling about Him because He said, “I am the Bread that came down out of Heaven.”

Note:  Not all of the Jews were involved in the grumbling.

John 6:42

They were saying, “Is not this Jesus the Son of Joseph, Whose father and mother we have known?  How does He now say, ‘I have come down out of Heaven’?”

John 6:43

Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves.

John 6:44

“No one can come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.

Note:  People who are uninterested in learning about the means of salvation will not be drawn to the Lord Jesus Christ.  In contrast, people who are interested in learning about the means of salvation will be drawn to the Lord Jesus Christ.  God the Father draws those people to the Lord Jesus Christ by means of the gospel.  In that regard, God the Father draws people to the Lord Jesus Christ by means of what is communicated to them regarding believing that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Savior Who was judged for the sins of humanity.

People are unable to figure out the means of salvation by themselves.  Instead, they need to be led to the means of salvation.  That which leads them to the means of salvation is the gospel.  In that regard, for those people who are interested in learning about the means of salvation, God the Father wills for them to have circumstances that lead them to the gospel message.

John 6:45

“It is written in the prophets:  ‘ALSO, THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.

Note:  The content in all uppercase letters in this verse references the content of Isaiah 54:13.  Also, the people who reject the gospel message do not learn from it.  Therefore, such people do not come to the Lord Jesus Christ—in other words, such people do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.

John 6:46

“Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One Who is from God; He has seen the Father.

Note:  The phrase Not that anyone has seen the Father refers to the fact that God the Father had not appeared in the presence of people on earth.  The Lord Jesus Christ has seen God the Father because the Lord Jesus Christ is a Member of the Trinity.  In that regard, the Lord Jesus Christ is 100% Deity and 100% humanity.  As mentioned further above, the Lord Jesus Christ being 100% Deity and 100% humanity is known as the hypostatic union [high-PUH-stat-ick YOON-yuhn].

John 6:47

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

Note:  It is worth noting that absent from this verse is any reference to a person who has eternal life doing any works in order to be worthy of having eternal life.

John 6:48

“I am the Bread of Life.

John 6:49

“Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

John 6:50

“This is the Bread which comes down out of Heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.

Note:  In this verse, the Lord Jesus Christ refers to Himself with the word Bread.  The eating referenced in this verse is a metaphorical reference to believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.  The dying referenced in this verse refers to the judgment of being eternally separated from the Trinity.

John 6:51

“I am the living Bread that came down out of Heaven.  If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever, and the Bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

Note:  It is worth noting that absent from this verse is any reference to a person who has eternal life doing any works in order to be worthy of having eternal life.  In that regard, eating is a metaphor that is apropos [ap-ruh-POH or AP-ruh-poh].  Some synonyms of the adjective apropos include appropriate, relevant, fitting, and applicable.  The eating metaphor is apropos because eating is a non-meritorious act, just like believing in Jesus Christ as the Savior for eternal salvation is a non-meritorious act.  In a non-meritorious act, the person doing the action receives zero merit.  In other words, there is nothing about which a person can boast with regard to that action.  The same applies to faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior for eternal salvation.

John 6:52

Then the Jews were arguing with one another, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

John 6:53

Therefore, Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.

Note:  The phrase eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood is a metaphor that refers to believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.  In that regard, the reference to the flesh of the Lord calls attention to the fact that He and He alone was qualified to be the Savior because He was born as a human without a sinful nature and because by never sinning, He never acquired a sinful nature and thus remained sinless—in other words, He remained untainted by sin.  The sinful nature can be referred to as the old sin nature (OSN).  In that regard, every human except the Lord Jesus Christ has acquired an old sin nature, and each humanʼs old sin nature is in the body of that human.  The old sin nature, which is referenced in Ephesians 4:22 with the term old man, can also be referred to as the sin nature.  It is also referenced using the word flesh in Ephesians 2:3 and Galatians 5:16.  The content of Romans 6:6 associates the sin nature with peopleʼs bodies, and the content of Romans 7:17–18 references the sin nature being in peopleʼs bodies.  Adam and Ishshah [ish-SHAW] (the name of Eve before Adam renamed her Eve) were created without old sin natures, and they acquired old sin natures when they sinned.  All other human beings have been conceived.  Only the Lord Jesus Christ was conceived without an old sin nature.  All the other humans that were conceived have been conceived with old sin natures.  Likewise, all humans in the future will be conceived, and the conceiving of each of them will involve each of them receiving an old sin nature at the moment that each of them will be conceived.

The reference to the blood of the Lord calls attention to Him being judged for the sins of humanity.  In that regard, the blood of Christ is a metaphor that refers to the Lord Jesus Christʼs spiritual death on the cross.  His spiritual death on the cross involved Him being judged for all of the sins of humanity.  The metaphor involving blood calls attention to the sacrificing of animals under the regulations of the Mosaic Law and before the Mosaic Law. Now that the Lord Jesus Christ has fulfilled the Mosaic Law, people should refrain from sacrificing animals because such sacrifices have been invalidated by the Lord Jesus Christʼs fulfilling of the Mosaic Law when He received the judgment for the sins of humanity.  The term blood of Christ is a circular reference because it calls to mind the sacrifices of the animals in the past and because the sacrifices of the animals helped believers look forward to the Lord being judged for the sins of humanity.

John 6:54

“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

John 6:55

“Indeed, My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.

John 6:56

“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

Note:  The context of the surrounding verses involves eternal life.  In that regard, the word abides in this verse refers to each believer being in union with Christ—in other words, associated with the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 6:57

“As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me—he also will live because of Me.

Note:  The phrase he also will live refers to a person receiving eternal life.  The phrase he also will live is followed by the phrase because of Me rather than being followed by anything referencing the works of the person who receives eternal life.

John 6:58

“This is the Bread which came down out of Heaven.  Not as the fathers ate and died, he who eats this Bread will live forever.”

Note:  Whereas the Israelites during the time of Moses eventually physically died after having eaten manna, each person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior receives eternal life.

John 6:59

These things He said in a synagogue while teaching in Capernaum.

John 6:60

Therefore, many of His disciples, having heard, said, “This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?”

John 6:61

However, Jesus, conscious that His disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?

John 6:62

“Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?

Note:  In this verse, the Lord Jesus Christ references His ascension to Heaven.  At the time the Lord spoke what is in the content of this verse, He had not yet ascended to Heaven.  As mentioned further above, the Lordʼs ascension to Heaven occurred forty days after He was resurrected.

John 6:63

“It is the Spirit Who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Note:  God the Holy Spirit imparts eternal life to a person when that person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior.  The phrase the flesh profits nothing indicates that people are unable to provide eternal life for themselves.  The phrase are spirit and are life refers to the Lordʼs message indicating the means by which a person is able to have spiritual life.  In that regard, at the moment of salvation, each believer in the Lord Jesus Christ receives a human spirit, which is a believerʼs essence that involves thinking of Bible doctrine—in other words, thinking that involves the Word of God.  An unbeliever lacks a human spirit.  In contrast with a human spirit, a soul is a personʼs essence that involves thinking in general.  Each unbeliever has a body and soul; therefore, unbelievers are dichotomous [digh-KAHT-uh-muhs].  Each believer has a body, soul, and human spirit; therefore, believers are trichotomous [trigh-KAHT-uh-muhs].

John 6:64

“However, there are some of you who do not believe,” for Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe and who it was that would betray Him / hand Him over.

John 6:65

Then He was saying, “For this reason, I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.”

Note:  God the Father made salvation possible by planning in eternity past that God the Son would be born as the Human Jesus Christ and be judged for the sins of humanity.

John 6:66

After this, many of His disciples went back and were not walking with Him anymore.

Note:  The disciples referenced in this verse were not the twelve men who were members of the Lordʼs core group of disciples.

John 6:67

Therefore, Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?”

John 6:68

Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have words of eternal life.

John 6:69

“We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”

John 6:70

Jesus answered them, “Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, yet one of you is devil / false accuser / calumniator / slanderer / traducer?”

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ chose the twelve to be his core group of disciples.  Also, the Lord Jesus Christ compared Judas Iscariot to Satan.  In that regard, the Koine Greek noun that is translated as “devil,” false accuser,” calumniator,” slanderer,” or “traducer” in this verse is διάβολός [pronounced dee-AH-bah-LAHS and transliterated as diabolos].  That noun is an inflected form of the root word διάβολος [pronounced dee-AH-bah-lahs and transliterated as diabolos].  The verb calumniate refers to making false and defamatory statements about someone.  A calumniator is someone who calumniates.  The verb traduce refers to speaking badly of or telling lies about someone so as to damage that personʼs reputation.  A traducer is someone who traduces.  Like Satan, Judas was a false accuser / calumniator / slanderer / traducer.

In this verse, there is an absence of a definite article in front of the noun diabolos.  The absence of a definite article in front of a noun is known as an anarthrous construction [an-AR-thruhs kuhn-STRUHK-shuhn].  When there is an anarthrous construction, the quality of the noun is what is being emphasized in the grammar of the Koine Greek.  In that regard, the negative quality of Judas Iscariot is being emphasized in this verse.

Coincidentally, the man who is the king of the West during the Tribulation is a calumniator.  The king of the West is also known as the Antichrist with a capital A, the beast, and the first beast.  The false prophet is also known as the second beast.  The false prophet supports the man who is the king of the West during the Tribulation.  Content related to the king of the West being referred to as the first beast is in Revelation 13:1–12.  The content of Revelation 13:11–18 references the false prophet.

The content of Revelation 13:4 indicates that Satan gives authority/power/influence to the Antichrist, and the content of Revelation 13:5 indicates that the Antichrist is given a mouth that speaks great things and vilifications / calumniatings / railings / revilings / slanders / speeches injurious to anotherʼs good name / blasphemies.  Regarding the word great in Revelation 13:5, the Koine Greek adjective that is translated as “great things” in that verse is μεγάλα [pronounced meh-GAH-lah and transliterated as megala].  That adjective is an inflected form of the root word μέγας [pronounced MEH-gahs and transliterated as megas].  In Revelation 13:5, there is no noun associated with the adjective megala.  Due to the lack of a noun associated with megala, another way to translate megala in that verse is “greats.”  In that regard, it is possible that the Antichrist uses a translation of the adjective megas multiple times—in other words, communicating multiple greats:  great this, great that, great, great, great.

Regarding the phrase vilifications / calumniatings / railings / revilings / slanders / speeches injurious to anotherʼs good name / blasphemies, the content of Revelation 13:5 indicates that the Antichrist is involved in communicating about others in a manner that could involve any of the terms in that phrase.  In that regard, the term vilification refers to communicating about someone or something in a manner that is abusively disparaging [to disparage means to regard or represent as being of little worth and thereby belittle the value or importance of someone or something].  The term calumniating refers to making false and defamatory statements about someone.  The term railing refers to complaining or expressing criticisms in language that is bitter, harsh, abusive, or insolent [insolent means showing a rude and arrogant lack of respect, being audaciously rude or disrespectful, being insultingly contemptuous in speech or conduct].  The term reviling refers to criticizing using abusive and contemptuous language.  The term slander refers to making a false and malicious spoken statement damaging to the reputation of another.  The term speech injurious to anotherʼs good name is self-explanatory.  The term blasphemy refers to thinking, communication, or action that is irreverent in reference to the Trinity.  Irreverence toward the Word of God is an example of thinking, communication, or action that is irreverent in reference to the Trinity; therefore, irreverence toward the Word of God is a form of blasphemy.

In Revelation 13:5, the Koine Greek noun that is translated as “vilifications,” “calumniatings,” “railings,” “revilings,” “slanders,” “speeches injurious to anotherʼs good name,” or “blasphemies” is βλασφημίας [pronounced blah-sfay-MEE-ahs and transliterated as blasphēmias].  That noun is an inflected form of the root word βλασφημία [pronounced blah-sfay-MEE-ah and transliterated as blasphēmia].  While the English word blasphemy is derived from the Greek noun blasphēmia, the noun blasphēmia has various meanings, as noted above.  In that regard, if the context of the use of the noun blasphēmia involves the blasphēmia being done in reference to the Trinity, then it is logical to translate blasphēmia as “blasphemy” in that context.  If the noun blasphēmia is used in a context from which a reference to the Trinity is absent, then it is possible that the use of blasphēmia in that context could involve one or more of the following translations:  “vilification,” “calumniating,” “railing,” “reviling,” “slander,” or “speech injurious to anotherʼs good name.”  The context of the sentence that is in Revelation 13:5 is such that absent from that context is any reference to the Trinity.  Therefore, it is possible that the use of blasphēmias in that context could involve one or more of the following translations:  “vilifications,” “calumniatings,” “railings,” “revilings,” “slanders,” or “speeches injurious to anotherʼs good name.”

Judas Iscariot was against the Lord Jesus Christ even though Judas Iscariot seemed to be working for the Lord Jesus Christ.  In that regard, Judas Iscariot was an antichrist with a lowercase a.  Similar to Judas Iscariot, the Antichrist with a capital A will seem to be working for God the Father while actually being against God the Father.  Satan can use a similar playbook at different times in history.  In that regard, there can be a thread of commonality between people who work for Satan—in other words, Satanʼs servants can have similarities with regard to their character and with regard to what they do.

Regarding the Antichrist seeming to be working for God the Father, the content of Revelation 6:2 indicates that the Antichrist will seem to be a hero riding on a white horse.  In that regard, the Antichrist is a pseudo-savior—in other words, a false savior.  Therefore, regarding the matter of the Savior, there can be only One.

In contrast to the depiction of the Antichrist in the content of Revelation 6:2, the content of Revelation 19:11 references the Lord Jesus Christ on a white horse on the occasion of the Second Advent.  Unspecified in the Bible is whether the Lord will be riding a literal horse or a vehicle that from the perspective of the apostle John could be described as a horse, including a flying vehicle that might resemble a flying motorcycle.  In that regard, the visions that John had were described by John with words that were part of Johnʼs vocabulary.

Regarding the Second Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ, His return to the earth on that occasion will occur while the forces of the king of the North, the king of the South, the kings of the East, and the king of the West will be fighting in the land of Israel during the Battle of Armageddon.  That topic is covered in Revelation 16:12–16.  Also, when the Lord will be returning to the earth on the occasion of the Second Advent, the Lord will be amongst clouds.  That topic is covered in Matthew 24:30; Matthew 26:64; Mark 13:26; Mark 14:62; and Luke 21:27.  On that occasion, the Mount of Olives will split in half such that one part moves north and the other part moves south, and people will flee eastward through the valley that will result from the splitting of the Mount of Olives.  Also on the occasion of the Second Advent, day will be darkened, and night will be illuminated.  The topic of the Lord Jesus Christʼs return is covered in Zechariah 14:1–7.  It is also covered in Revelation 19:11–21.

The content of John 6:70 is repeated below for reference.

John 6:70

Jesus answered them, “Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, yet one of you is devil / false accuser / calumniator / slanderer / traducer?”

John 6:71

Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was intending to betray Him / hand Him over.

Note:  Judas Iscariot was intending to betray / hand over the Lord Jesus Christ to people who were opposed to the Lord.

Sincerely,

John
